I remember LASIK

It was an active thread right now in one of the communities/fora that I have joined, I remember LASIK! I remember the nervousness before the surgery but I didn't feel what I expected..it was painless and indeed high tech!, it's quite expensive but its all worth it. Would you imagine from a 100/120(?)  vision I am now 20/15! Yes, that's true my vision is better now and even better than the perfect vision 20/20.

LASIK stands for Laser in Situ Keratomileusis.

An inspiring message from a good friend...

This actually increased my appetite to photography, a message from a very good friend:

"

Well, thanks Dalton. There's ALWAYS somebody better out there..!!
OK, here's the deal. I'm going to take a few minutes to preach to you.
First of all, you don't need an SLR or a fancy camera. A good photographer only needs a simple digital point and shoot, as long as it takes good clear pictures. I used a Fuji Finepix 2800 for many years until I fell and broke it. I'm using a Canon SD 800 now and its terrific..!! The camera does NOT make the photograph, it's the user. If you have a simple automatic point and shoot, it lets you concentrate on the photo and NOT the camera. You dont want to waste your time and energy on what the camera and lens are doing, you want to devote all our focus to the shot..!!
The next thing to remember is this: A photographer is an artist. An artist is an entertainer. The public does NOT entertain easily these days, so your photos must be GOOD..!!! They must be interesting, colourful and captivating.
To learn photography, you must start from ground zero. The basics..!! If you have a library there, get a beginners book on photography. You need to learn the "rule of thirds", basic composition and other basics. Always follow your eye. If a composition leads your eye out of the picture or away from the subject, then its a BAD composition.!! The key words here are FOLLOW YOUR EYE..!! A good photo must convey some kind of emotion, just like a painting or a song.!!
If you have high speed internet, you might be able to find an online page on basic photography. You MUST memorize the rules..!!
After that, you must go out every night or day and practice, practice, practice..!! Bring your shots home and look at them. Study them and see which ones seem to have good composition. Post the good ones on your stream and I will look at them and let you know which ones are the best.
Learning photography is like taking Karate lessons. Its all about PRACTICE..!! You must ALSO look at thousands and maybe even tens of thousands of other peoples photos. Look the the work of the PROs and see what they do that looks so good. I learn from them every day. You never stop learning..!!
Photoshop is a good tool. You need to spend LOTS of hours with it. If you get to know it well and REALLY learn it, you can get a job making LOTS of money.!!
In the next few weeks, I would like to see you putting out a good product.!! I'm sure you live in an interesting town and there should be plenty of good people photos and street scenes to capture..!!
OH, put your camera colour setting on "vivid". Your photos need all the colour they can get..!!
Good luck. I'll be watching your stream. "

Thanks for reading...now, why don't you start taking pictures also!
